AUC, BMB and Laserfiche: A story of digital transformation
The American University in Cairo (AUC) is a prestigious American-accredited institution of higher education that boasts a diverse community of students, faculty, alumni, trustees, and supporters from over 60 countries. Despite its long-standing history, AUC has made it a priority to provide a contemporary student experience. Its New Cairo campus features cutting-edge facilities dedicated to advanced research, innovative teaching methods, lifelong learning opportunities, and community engagement.
AUC’s vision for modern content management
The technology solutions team at AUC had the vision to go beyond traditional document management and implement a full content services platform. This is when the BMB, a Laserfiche solution provider with locations across the Middle East, North Africa, and Europe, came along to implement Laserfiche as a modern way to manage information and automate processes campus-wide.
Weathering numerous challenges with intelligent content management
Before adopting Laserfiche, AUC encountered numerous difficulties handling its outdated content management system. The university’s warehouse was inundated with paper-based documents and student records. AUC outlined its requirements for a new system for managing content. Students were required to submit around 10 document categories — including grades, birth certificates, national IDs, photos, etc. — in physical form.
Laserfiche’s seamless integration with AUC systems like Banner and SAP has revolutionized campus-wide automation.
By powering workflows in key departments—including the Registrar, Provost, Security, and Controller Offices—Laserfiche has improved efficiency and the student experience. With intelligent forms, automated workflows, and advanced analytics, Laserfiche empowers AUC to optimize processes, identify bottlenecks, and deliver services faster and more effectively.
